If you’re looking for luxury and relaxation you can’t wrong with a spa day.
As women we often find it hard to take time for ourselves, finding 2 or 3 hours is tough enough but imagine indulging in an entire luxe filled day getting pampered and lounging by the pool- impossible. I know I’m often hustling so hard I usually need a reminder to slow down, relax and give my mind and body a break once in a while. So if you’re like me and you’ve been waiting for a sign- this is it! You deserve to take an entire day of relaxation, and there’s no better place than at one of Toronto’s top luxury spas.
The best way to experience the spa is by taking the entire day. This doesn’t have to mean spending an excessive amount of money on one of their incredible ‘Retreat’ packages (although I totally recommend that as well), even if you only have one or two treatments you can and should still take the entire day to indulge.
The Ritz Carlton is the Plaza Hotel of Toronto. Located in the downtown core this hotel is every little girl’s fantasy, and the spa is even better. Once you reach the fifth floor, you’ll enter a beautiful boutique filled with face masks, serums, and rose infused sweets. After check in they’ll take you on a tour: Parisian inspired with the stunning Toronto skyline, there really is no spa as gorgeous as the Ritz.
While the Four Seasons is my favourite for treatments, nothing beats the Ritz over their facilities. Unlike the Four Seasons, the Ritz gives you access to their fitness centre, so you can get in a workout before relaxing with a massage. Lounge in their hot tub or salt water pool while experiencing a gorgeous view of the CN Tower. Treat your skin in the sauna or Eucalyptus steam room, and definitely soak in the green tea infused vitality pool before your treatment. With snacks, tea and room service available in all their lounges you’ll never want to leave.
Once it’s time for your treatment, your therapist will grab you from the Co-Ed Sanctuary. I opted for their ‘rebalancing massage with essential oils and honey’ and it did not disappoint. My therapist was so in-tune with my body I almost fell asleep, I was so relaxed. She was also super kind, offering to have the front desk charge my phone during my massage when I noted it was dying.
I left feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. I can’t wait to go back and try another treatment, I’m thinking The Slimming Body Wrap or their Essential facial.

Prefer to get a bit more adventurous with your spa day? The Miraj Hammam Spa at the Shangri-La is the choice for you. Block out the sounds of the city and take a journey to the Middle East. Upon entrance, you’ll find a waterfall, décor and architecture inspired by Paris, Marrakech and Istanbul.
I generally like to start my spa days with a workout–do the work first so I can relax after. Open 24 hours, the Shangri-la’s health club offers floor to ceiling windows for a beautiful view while you work out. Take in a yoga class or book a personal training session, the attendants will even be sure to bring you water when you’re running low.
After working up a sweat, let your skin breath even more by enjoying their sauna or steam room. Take an insta on the terrace then cool off in their 20 meter lap pool. Once it’s time for your treatment your therapist will meet you in the lounge and take you to your suite. I chose their 75 minute hot stone massage, and I don’t think I’ve ever been so relaxed in my life.
Next time I would definitely recommend indulging in one of their voyages and retreats. The experience for the 75 min treatment was incredible, I can only imagine their voyages are that much more of an elevated journey. After my treatment I’m taken to a relaxation cabana overflowing with beautiful pillows and patterns and treated to baklava, grapes and tea. When I step foot outside the spa I can hardly believe I never left the city.

Walking into the lobby of the Four Seasons is like walking into a palace. The ceilings seem to go on forever and there are fresh roses everywhere. Take the elevator to floor nine and you’re greeted by the lovely ladies at the spa check in desk. Once you’re signed in, an attendant will give you a tour of the spa.
Inside the ladies locker room is a relaxation area that offers everything from fresh fruit and tea to make-up remover and hair spray. Heading further in you are greeted by my favourite smell ever, eucalyptus, and encouraged to indulge in their steam room. If you prefer you can also lounge in the stunning sunlit relaxation pool or hot tub. If you’re visiting in the summer, I definitely recommend checking out the view from their outdoor terrace.
My favourite thing about the Four Seasons, aside from the incredible service, is the fact that each time I go it’s like I have the spa to myself. I’m not sure if this is luck, or Four Seasons magic, but I find I usually have the facilities to myself or at most, share it with 2 or 3 other people. The solo time makes for an incredibly peaceful and luxurious day.
When it’s time for your treatment your therapist will greet you and lead you to your room. If you’re lucky like me you might even be upgraded to one of their large suites (usually reserved for couples).
The spa menu is incredible: from lavish facials to 4 hour retreats there is something for everyone.
I’m a sucker for all massages, and their relaxing aromatherapy massage is my favorite! They give you an option of scents or you can opt out, they also let you select your music station. If you go for this treatment I recommend asking for Emily, she’s incredibly lovely and does an amazing job getting you into a relaxing state.
Once the treatments over I usually continue to lounge around the terrace for a few more hours. This is a great time to catch up on a good book or do some meditation. Whatever treatment you choose, you’ll be sure to leave in a serene state, wishing everyday could be a spa day.

Be sure to sign up for their mailing list to learn about their monthly specials, and if you’re a new client keep an eye on Group-On Toronto. Every few months they’ll put up an introductory offer for a 60minute aromatherapy massage- but be warned, that’s how I got hooked!
