Current status: day dreaming about sipping pino on the summer French Riviera while I shiver violently under 5 layers of clothing waiting for the bus.
It’s winter and I want nothing more than a vacay–or summer to hurry and come back. Since neither of these are an option, I’ve decided to heat up my apartment and bring some summer love back into my life through a little interior decor update.
In partnership with The Wanderly–one of the cutest pop-ups on Queen West this season, this blog post is all about the different ways you can style a bold accent in your home to brighten your space up. In this particular case, I’m using a vintage handmade Turkish Kilim throw pillow from the shop to show you easy but cute apartment decorating ideas.
Give your sofa some love
The easiest way to work with bright pops of colour is to use it against a neutral base like a solid white or grey sofa. I love mix and matching different patterns and colours together but the simplicity of the background couch lets us avoid any overwhelming visuals.
Create a mood corner
Another easy way to use an accent like this is to simply throw a textured pillow on a bold coloured arm chair. I love this mustardy chair from Homesense and how it compliments the colours on the pillow case. I also love how these fabrics together remind me of bohemian inspired outfits, travelling, and festival season all at once. Beside a rustic wooden console table and a vintage globe I picked up at a garage sale, I’ve instantly created a little corner of sweet wanderlust and global flavour.
Bring the outdoors in
Lastly I wanted to create a little summer spot in my home using lots of greenery and patio furniture to bring the outdoors back in. The summer vibes and cute Instagrams coming from this corner is enough to cheer me up instantly!
If you haven’t seen The Wanderly’s pop-up shop yet, be sure to drop in on 978 Queen Street West, Toronto before it ends on December 31st.
There’s so many cute items I was dying over that would make perfect last minute holiday gifts. I also hear they’re having a sale right after Christmas!
Note: If you’re not in the area, you can also order their stuff online at http://www.thewanderly.com/!
