3 Simple Habits To Better Your Life Right Now

So 2016 is coming to an end. Think back to the resolutions you made in January where you promised yourself you’d learn French by now and have a six pack. How’s that going? Yeah, thought so.

While I’m still working on my 2016 New Years goal to stop being afraid to say no, I am otherwise pretty proud of the healthy habits I’ve incorporated regularly into my lifestyle over the past year.

Today I’m sharing 3 simple things that I’ve adopted into my daily routine to start living a healthier lifestyle starting now. End the year off with a bang so that when 2017 rolls around, you’ll already feel as sparkling and golden as your New Year Eve dress:

Prioritize You:

self love

how to be less stressed

The end of the year is usually crunch time for many of us. Running around trying to finish up that mountain list of projects or exam season if you’re a student all while trying to squeeze in some crowded holiday shopping here and there. Just thinking about it all exhausts me. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed. That’s why it’s so important to take some time each week for yourself to just unwind, reset, and detach yourself from all the crazy.

One of my favourite things to do is take myself out on a date to dinner for a nice glass of wine and a big juicy steak! No it’s not weird or anything…

Another thing I love is cozying up by the window with a big mug of chai tea and chilling the f out.

You-time is as important as anything else so treat it like a priority on your weekly to-do list.

Make an Addition to your Daily Commute:

Whether it takes you 10 minutes or an hour to get to school/work everyday, commute time adds up. How are you spending that time? Instead of listening to top 40 radio, mindlessly scrolling Instagram or trying to avoid public transit stranger eye contact, keep a book in your bag or download some podcasts to listen to. I feel good knowing I’m still doing something productive even when I’m stuck in traffic or underground without service on the subway. This is a great way to knock some reading off your book list or learn new educational material while your mind is still fresh every morning. One of my favourites to listen to is The Tim Ferriss Show and The Ultimate Health Podcast!

Adopt the 3 litres a Day Rule:

Water is one of the basic human necessities yet so many of us walk around dehydrated all the time. One of the best decisions I made this year was to start carrying around a one litre water bottle everywhere I go. I drink a litre in the morning, another in the afternoon, and another throughout the evening.

The benefits? I’m way less tired, I have more energy, I get complimented on my glowing skin at least once a week, and I can think a lot more clearly.

Lemon Recipes

If there ever something so simple and basic but so profoundly effective on making a positive impact to your life, this is it! If you don’t like the taste, infuse it with some fresh lemon or cucumber. Either way–drink up!
