It is officially September and yes that means pumpkin spice latte (never had one before really!) and oversize scarf season is just around the corner. I recently reached out to one of my favourite Toronto bloggers, Jessica Lam, to collaborate on a fall project. Check out her blog Diary of a Toronto Girl; trust me, she knows the best places to eat and best events happening in the city.
Today we’re bringing you 8 fall fashion looks for every autumn occasion. From day to night, here’s our favourite fall trends and styles for September!
The ’90’s continues on this fall, except instead of chokers and dutch braids, the bomber jackets, white running shoes and ripped jeans take over. Jessica wears this casual look effortlessly with a basic white tee, super sleek runners, and a classy red lip to give the look an extra chic twist.
For my take on the back-to-school look, I went with a cozy fall white knit sweater and a denim skirt. I love the extra feminine tie up detailing in the front. I paired it with sleek pointed toe black flats and my favourite thick framed glasses from my favourite market in London! White and denim is definitely a winning combo this fall.
In the Office
If your school days are long gone, here’s some fall inspiration on the casual business/work outfit. Jessica takes the classic white blouse and black pants up a notch with an awesome pair of edgy ankle boots, a leather jacket, and sleek statement watch. The key here is to start with basics and build up on it with accessories and layering to show off your personal style.

So I came across these amazing ’70’s style burnt orange wide leg pants at Wilfred the other day and was absolutely obsessed. They are a bit pricy so I decided to think about them first. When I came back in week they were gone and I was told that no one in Canada had received a shipping of these pants yet, so I ended up ordering them because I wanted them so bad (ugh). These pants are now my favourite staple piece in my fall wardrobe and you’ll definitely see them on the blog again!
Jessica proves once again her expertise in taking a basic outfit to the next level. A plaid shirt and t-shirt combo could easily be a regular outfit for school with a pair of jeans, but Jessica opts for some super chic leather leggings and white sneakers to keep it casual still. Love and love!
One thing that’s super important to me when shopping for clothes is picking pieces that are super versatile. Like this black slip dress; it’s easily a great go-to LBD for a night out but I also love dressing it down for a casual day time outfit because it’s so comfortable. Here I paired it with an old pair of sneakers and a vintage purse to add a pop of colour.
Black is the new black and Jessica kills it with a tight black turtle neck and asymmetrical skirt. With edgy ankle boots and the perfect red lip, ain’t nobody messin with Jessica tonight!
I’m obsessed with the whole nudes aesthetic thing so I loved this nude body suit from Top Shop. I also love how the edgy zipper detailing on the front matches my hand bag. The hole in the leg is from when I was texting and walking down a staircase and not-so-gracefully fell (oh lessons learned the hard way). I also really love these chunky beige clogs–super easy to walk in (especially after a few drinks)!
